Magnesium appears as important as calcium for kids' bone healthCourtesy of MandelNews.com
The National Institutes of Health writes that magnesium
is the fourth most abundant mineral in the body and it is essential for
good health. About 50 percent of total body magnesium is found in bone.
The other 50 percent is found predominantly inside cells of body
tissues and organs. Although only 1% of magnesium is found in blood, the
body works very hard to keep blood levels of magnesium at a constant
level. Science Daily has reported on May 5, 2013,
Parents are typically advised to make certain their children drink
milk and eat other calcium-rich foods in order to build strong bones.
However, they also may be encouraged to make certain their kids
eat salmon, almonds and other foods which are high in magnesium.
Magnesium has been found to be another nutrient that may play an
important role in bone health. Steven A. Abrams MD, has said, "Lots of
nutrients are key for children to have healthy bones. One of these
appears to be magnesium." Dr. Abrams has also said, "Calcium is
important, but, except for those children and adolescents with very low
intakes, may not be more important than magnesium."
Although it has been known that magnesium is important for bone
health in adults, few studies have looked at whether magnesium intake
and absorption are related to bone mineral content in young children. A
new study has addressed the issue of the importance of magnesium for
bone health in kids. The levels of calcium and magnesium in the children
in this study were measured. The results showed that the amounts of
magnesium consumed and absorbed were key predictors of how much bone
children had. Dr. Abrams concluded, "We believe it is important for
children to have a balanced, healthy diet with good sources of minerals,
including both calcium and magnesium."

Isotonix® Magnesium
What Makes Isotonix® Magnesium Unique?Magnesium is the fourth most abundant mineral in the body and supports more than 300 enzyme systems. It is required for energy, regulation of the body temperature, nerve function, adaptation to stress, metabolism and much more. One of the main mechanisms of magnesium in the body is its support of normal protein synthesis. Normal protein synthesis relies on optimal magnesium concentrations, as magnesium supports the normal delivery to the building blocks of life – our DNA – of signals that trigger the expression of amino acids. In other words, this process supports the body’s normal ability to "make" proteins. The recommended daily value for adults is 400 mg of magnesium. However, average daily intakes are much less. A study published in the Journal of Nutrition found that most U.S. adults – especially those over the age of 30 – were receiving, on average, approximately 290 mg of magnesium daily. That study also showed that dietary intake is particularly low among women. Unfortunately, inadequate levels of magnesium have been linked to poorer concentration, memory and cognitive function and muscle discomfort. Sleep quality is associated with higher levels of magnesium and when these levels are low, sleep quality may suffer. Isotonix Magnesium provides the body with 100 percent of the recommended daily value of magnesium in a highly-bioavailable formula. Thanks to its unique formula, which includes two different types of magnesium to increase its absorption by the body, Isotonix Magnesium helps maintain normal blood pressure and supports bone health and sleep quality, while promoting head comfort and optimal muscle health. ****

Are Dietary Supplements Needed?
Update: August 26, 2013:
I read ANOTHER newspaper article yesterday from ANOTHER dietician who stated, "If you eat a good diet composed of many different healthy foods, you do not need supplementation." Of course, I shook my head. In a PERFECT world, I might agree 100% but we don't live in a perfect world. Our farms are factories, our soil is depleted, our food doesn't contain the nutrition it used to, and people don't eat 3 meals/day around a kitchen table. Because this silly "if you eat a good diet, you don't need supplementation" thinking, I felt it was time to repost this blog---
Courtesy :Jan Johansen April 05, 2013
Many people just don’t want to take pills. They believe they get all the nutrients they need from the food they eat. While that may be true, it really only applies if they eat only their home grown food, both plant and animal proteins. Even then, over 70% of that food will need to be eaten raw. But if you can’t do that, supplementation becomes not a question of if, but of what.
If you have macular degeneration or even if you just have a family history of it, you might want to consider supplementing with resveratrol. Studies show that this antioxidant can slow down and even reverse macular degeneration.
If your immune system is weak you may want to consider adding some zinc. Other options for a weak immune system include plant sterols and oregano essential oil. Another link found with zinc is low or hypothyroidism.Evidently without the zinc the thyroid doesn’t function as well. This can be a prime cause of fatigue and weight gain.
A B12 deficiency
can mimic Schizophrenia. If you or someone you love starts showing
symptoms of Schizophrenia then supplementing with B12 could prevent
being labeled by the medical profession. If you eat little or no animal
products it is more likely that you will develop a deficiency.
Other vitamins that modern man is typically low on include Vitamin D, Omega 3 fatty acids, probiotics, selenium, magnesium, and CoQ10.
If you are unsure if you need any of these you might consider taking a micronutrient test. This is a blood test that shows the level of different nutrients in your blood. It would be a great start to determining what supplements you need to be considering.
Genetics
play a huge role in how our bodies process nutrients, how they respond
to activity and how we react to our environment and surroundings. When
it comes to your health, the answers are in your genes. Your DNA tells a
story: how you process foods, how you react to exercise, how your
environment affects your body, how your family history plays a part in
your health.
What if you could learn about your health with a simple test, one that could give you realistic and reasonable recommendations to promote your quality of life? It’s time to make informed decisions about your health – no more guesswork, just facts.

But if you can’t do that, supplementation becomes not a question of if, but of what.
Our food does not contain the vitamins and minerals that it did
centuries ago. The soil in most places has been horribly depleted. Modern farming methods now use chemical methods to
replace a few of the minerals that our soil once contained. This causes
many micronutrients to be missing from the soils, and therefore the
food. Commercial growers have learned that if they pick the produce
before it is completely ripe it lasts longer during shipment and
storage.
Science shows that the vitamin and minerals content
of the food grows exponentially the last days before peak ripeness. This
means that these components are not being developed in our foods.
Modern storage and cooking methods destroy even more of these vital
nutrients. Most foods are now irradiated. The radiation in meant to kill
any bad bacteria that is on the foods. However, it also kills many
nutrients and all of the enzymes that are supposed to be in our foods.
If you are in generally good health and follow a generally healthy diet, you may be able to get by with just a good multi-vitamin. If you don’t always eat right, or have any health issues there is a good possibility you need something more. Here are some examples of supplements to reach for.

Delicious and Nutritious Protein Shake
I have been asked over and over what goes into my morning protein shake. I will provide a recipe below but one of the keys to enjoying a healthy shake is to experiment and find what you like (this does not mean that you add ice cream). Below is my shake recipe with alternatives listed. Links are included to help with creating a shopping list.
We all know how important it is for our health to consume the proper amount of fruits and vegetables each day, yet a world full of fast food and processed meals have led people to choose less healthy alternatives. This leads to deficiencies of the nutrients that are needed to lead a healthy lifestyle. Poor diets of unhealthy, processed foods, sweets and fats help set the stage for unhealthly living.
A vegetable-rich diet is a smart way to start looking, feeling and living better. If you can’t seem to accomplish that goal, Complete Greens offers green vegetable powders and natural grass fibers that are low in sodium, fat and calories and contain no cholesterol. Complete Greens helps to maintain a healthy digestive tract, with natural enzymes and provides nutrients to the body’s organs. Naturally-produced grasses can enhance diets which may lack the correct amount of fruits and vegetables needed as a part of a daily regimen.
Lose Sickness and Find Wellness has made obtaining a healthier diet easier through the use of Complete Greens, which is a unique blend of over 50 natural ingredients that help you ingest nutrients that will help you live your demanding lifestyle. The ingredients in Complete Greens have been carefully selected for their efficiency and refined for optimal results. Complete Greens makes it possible for everyone to get the advantage of vegetables in their diets in a convenient manner.
In a Vitamix (a Vitamix is highly recommended because it will completely chop ice. I have owned mine for years and I know it will last for years. The Vitamix link will take you to a special free shipping offer if you do not have a Vitamix)
1.5
cups almond milk (we use unsweetened because we try to consume NO added sugar
and we don't do dairy)
1 tsp
vanilla extract
1.5
Tbsp flax seed oil (I use organic high lignan oil)
1.5
Tbsp coconut oil
1.5
Tbsp organic cacao powder (most people don't realize that raw cacao powder is a
super food with many health benefits- the problem arises when we add sugar and
eat the chocolate)
2 Tbsp organic ground flax seed powder (you can also soak seeds and add raw, whole seeds such as sunflower, pumpkin, or flax seeds)
2 Tbsp organic hemp protein powder
2 Tbsp
undenatured whey protein or egg white protein powder (we alternate between these two protein sources)
1 Tbsp vanilla mochatonix (this products adds a little sweetener along with some herbal caffeine)- you could add some
stevia for sweetener if you want a little sweetness. I found that the vanilla Mochatonix gives it a PERFECT taste and gives me the boost I need in the morning without tea or coffee.
2-3
scoops of complete greens powder
Ice

Visual Health Benefits of Pycnogenol
Why Pycnogenol® for your health?
See for yourself...the power of pycnogenol and
~Even though the video is quite old, the science is proven~
What Makes Isotonix OPC-3® Unique?
Isotonix OPC-3® is an isotonic-capable food supplement that is made from a combination of bilberry, grape seed, red wine and pine bark extracts, and citrus extract bioflavonoids, all found to be powerful antioxidants. Oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs) are bioflavonoids (complex organic plant compounds) found in fruits, vegetables and certain tree barks that provide exceptional nutritional benefits to the human body. Studies have shown OPCs to be up to 20 times more powerful than vitamin C and 50 times more powerful than vitamin E in neutralizing free radicals. Isotonix OPC-3 contains the only isotonic form of Pycnogenol® in the world. Pycnogenol is a natural plant extract from the bark of the French maritime pine tree and the most clinically researched and potent bioflavonoid.*
Isotonic, which means “same pressure,” bears the same chemical resemblance of the body’s blood, plasma and tears. All fluids in the body have a certain concentration, referred to as osmotic pressure. The body’s common osmotic pressure, which is isotonic, allows a consistent maintenance of body tissues. In order for a substance to be absorbed and used in the body’s metabolism, it must be transported in an isotonic state.
Isotonix® dietary supplements are delivered in an isotonic solution. This means that the body has less work to do to in obtaining maximum absorption. The isotonic state of the suspension allows nutrients to pass directly into the small intestine and be rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream. With Isotonix products, little nutritive value is lost, making the absorption of nutrients highly efficient while delivering maximum results.
Primary Benefits of Isotonix OPC-3®*:
- Combats free radicals

Grape Seed Extract May Beat Chemo in Late-Stage Cancer
Grape Seed Extract May Beat Chemo in Late-Stage Cancer
Courtesy GreenMedInfo.com -Written By: Heidi Stevenson
The benefits of grape seed extract in cancer are well
documented, but modern medicine won't do anything with it until the
mechanism of action has been found, so that it can be isolated,
purified, made poisonous and owned by a single company for enormous
profits.
The more advanced cancer is, the less effective chemotherapy is. However, a new study has shown that grape seed extract has exactly the opposite quality: The more advanced the cancer, the less extract that's needed to kill it. On top of that, the study also shows that grape seed extract targets the cancer cells that become most resistant to chemotherapy.
In the face of this remarkable new development, it's likely that grape seed extract is more effective in treating late-stage cancer than modern medicine's chemotherapy. Not only does it take less and less of the substance to kill cancer cells, it's able to target the cells that have become drug resistant, thus making chemo useless!
Yet again, the common misperception that modern medicine's treatments are stronger or more potent or better in any way is shown to be mistaken. Sadly, it's a mistake that can kill.
Have you ever noticed how there's so much focus on the idea that cholesterol causes heart disease? It doesn't, but that doesn't deter the ongoing research that assumes it to be true. That's because modern medicine demands to know how something works—or at least to be given an explanation, whether true or not. There's an assumption that, if you know that A is associated with B, then controlling A will prevent or cure B. It doesn't seem to matter if it's true, only that it sounds plausible.
Once a "plausible" mode of action idea has caught on, research funds get directed towards it. A search goes on to find ways to control that presumed connection. That's why we have statins. They're associated with heart disease. They don't cause it, but a seemingly plausible theory was produced saying that cholesterol causes heart disease. Therefore, since statins can reduce cholesterol, they're the first thing a doctor prescribes when someone has any sort of heart disease sign—even just being past the age of 40 or 50.
Statins don't produce health. In fact, they destroy it, causing memory loss, muscle damage, and death. But they're a perfect example of a plausible idea getting research funding, drugs being developed to cause a change in a marker, doctors prescribing it, and enormous profits getting funneled to Big Pharma.
Ultimately, does it matter whether a treatment can meet some arbitrary marker, or is it more important that it heals you? The answer should be obvious—and it is to everyone but a medical system that's gone awry. Modern medicine wants a product that's owned by Big Pharma because that apparently means it's science-based. That it invariably costs an exorbitant amount and doesn't cure isn't of concern. All that matters is that arbitrary markers be met.
Therefore, while it's interesting to learn something about how a treatment works, let's get on with it. Let's focus on the fact that grape seed extract does work and inform people so they can take advantage of it.
We must all make our own choices regarding health. However, the medical world is waiting for a Big Pharma-sanctioned product made from grape seeds—one that will likely have been sliced and diced until all symbiotic interactions with other ingredients are lost and harmful effects naturally mitigated through that symbiotic action are enhanced. Until that time, you won't see grape seed extract offered by any modern medical doctor.
But that doesn't mean you can't take it. At least, right now. The day is coming when agencies like the FDA will tell us that we don't have that right, as discussed in FDA Gives Sole Herbal Product Rights to Big Pharma. We're already seeing parents denied the right to have their children's medical needs treated naturally. If you care about your health, be sure that you can maintain access to all those natural substances that Big Pharma is maneuvering to have taken from us.
Grape Seed Extract 25 mg
Grape seed extract is typically extracted from the seeds of red grapes (instead of white), which have a high content of compounds known as oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs). Grape seed extract is extremely rich in polyphenols, compounds with high antioxidant activity. Grape seed extract has been found to maintain healthy cholesterol levels.*
Red Wine Extract 25 mg
Red wine extract is a powerful antioxidant. This extract is found in grape vines, roots, seeds and stalks, with the highest concentration in the skins. The antioxidant properties of red wine extract contribute to maintaining healthy circulation by strengthening capillaries, arteries and veins, and promoting overall cardiovascular health.*
In the late 1990s, scientists took note of a phenomenon among the French. There were very low rates of cardiovascular problems in the provinces where residents consistently ate high fat foods and drank red wine. Scientists concluded that the protective properties of red wine have helped the French maintain cardiovascular health for years and subsequent scientific studies have further shown that the OPCs found in red wine are particularly beneficial for protecting the heart and blood vessels.*
Pine Bark Extract (Pycnogenol®) 25 mg
Pycnogenol is a natural plant extract from the bark of the maritime pine tree, which grows exclusively along the coast of southwest France in Les Landes de Gascogne. This unspoiled and natural forest environment is the unique source of pine bark. Pycnogenol is one of the most researched ingredients in the natural product marketplace. Published findings have demonstrated Pycnogenol’s wide array of beneficial effects on the body. Pine bark extract is an all natural combination of procyanidins, bioflavonoids and organic acids.
The extract has three basic properties — it is a powerful antioxidant, selectively binds to collagen and elastin, and promotes the normal production of endothelial nitric oxide, which promotes the normal dilation of blood vessels.*
As one of the most potent natural scavenger of free radicals, Pycnogenol combats many aggressive free radicals before they cause oxidative stress to vital organs. Its super-antioxidant capabilities help support healthy blood platelet activity, support healthy blood glucose levels, reduce mild menstrual cramping and abdominal pain, maintain joint flexibility, promote cardiovascular health, promote healthy sperm quality, maintain healthy cholesterol levels and support a healthy complexion.*
Bilberry Extract 25 mg
Bilberry extract is derived from the leaves and berry-like fruit of a common European shrub closely related to the blueberry. Extracts of the ripe berry are known to contain flavonoid pigments known as anthocyanins, which are powerful antioxidants. Scientific studies confirm that bilberry extract supports healthy vision and venous circulation. Bilberry extract helps maintain healthy circulation by strengthening capillaries, arteries and veins.*
Citrus Extract (Bioflavonoids) 25 mg
Bioflavonoids are antioxidants found in certain plants that act as light filters, which protect delicate DNA chains and other important macromolecules by absorbing ultraviolet radiation. They have been found to promote cardiovascular health, help maintain healthy circulation by strengthening capillaries, arteries and veins, and demonstrate anti-inflammatory activity.*

However, a new study has shown that grape seed extract has exactly the opposite quality: The more advanced the cancer, the less extract that's needed to kill it. Grape Seed Extract Exposes Modern Medicine's Failings
The study in question was produced in the University of Colorado Cancer Center and published in the journal Cancer Letters. It was an in vitro study, not in vivo. That is, no living creatures were involved. The study was performed on cell cultures. That might make it seem relatively insignificant. However, much prior research has already documented grape seed extract's ability to control and kill cancer, so that's not in much doubt. What this study discovered is a plausible means by which it happens. This is the kind of information that modern medicine craves.Have you ever noticed how there's so much focus on the idea that cholesterol causes heart disease? It doesn't, but that doesn't deter the ongoing research that assumes it to be true. That's because modern medicine demands to know how something works—or at least to be given an explanation, whether true or not. There's an assumption that, if you know that A is associated with B, then controlling A will prevent or cure B. It doesn't seem to matter if it's true, only that it sounds plausible.
The "Plausible" Mode of Action
Rather than focusing on what really counts—survival and return to health—medicine focuses on markers that are based on plausible modes of action.Once a "plausible" mode of action idea has caught on, research funds get directed towards it.
Health Benefits of Grape Seed Extract
It's well established that resveratrol, which is found in both grape seeds and skins, is the active ingredient that does so much good. So, what can resveratrol, or grape seed or grape skin extract do for you? Let's take a look at what studies have shown:- Pancreatic cancer cell proliferation is inhibited by resveratrol.
-
Resveratrol is protective against several types of viruses, though the means by which protection is accomplished is unknown:
- Herpes simplex 1 infections.
- Varicella zoster (chicken pox and shingles)
- Human cytomegalovirus
- Epstein-Barr virus
- Enterovirus type 71 (which can cause paralysis, including the heart)
- Growth of colorectal cancers are halted by resveratrol.
- Resveratrol has been shown to stimulate cognitive function in mice.
- Fungal infections, which are notoriously difficult to treat, have been shown to respond to resveratrol, and without the adverse effects of standard drug therapy.
- Resveratrol exerts a protective effect on the cardiovascular system.
- Autoimmune myocarditis in rats was shown to improve with application of resveratrol.
- Alzheimer's disease may be warded off by grape seed extract.
- Head and neck cancer cells are destroyed by resveratrol, but healthy cells are unharmed.
If you care about your health, be sure that you can maintain access to all those natural substances that Big Pharma is maneuvering to have taken from us.

nutraMetrix Isotonix® OPC-3®
Key Ingredients Found In nutraMetrix Isotonix OPC-3®:Grape Seed Extract 25 mg

For Smokers, Low Levels of Vitamin D May Lead to Cancer
WASHINGTON, March 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- New research appearing online today in Clinical Chemistry, the journal of AACC,
shows that decreased levels of vitamin D may predispose smokers to
developing tobacco-related cancer. This study illustrates that simple vitamin D blood tests and supplements have the potential to improve
smokers' health.
In
the U.S. alone, cigarette smoking accounts for more deaths annually
than HIV, illegal drugs, alcohol, motor vehicle injuries, suicides, and
murders combined. It is the primary causal factor for at least 30% of
all cancer deaths, and can lead to multiple kinds of cancer, including
bladder, cervical, esophageal, head and neck, kidney, liver, lung,
pancreatic, and stomach, as well as myeloid leukemia. According to the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the healthcare expenditures
and productivity losses due to smoking cost the economy approximately $193 billion per year.
In
this paper, Afzal et al. measured plasma vitamin D levels in blood
samples collected in 1981–1983 from 10,000 Danes from the general
population. Researchers then followed the study participants for up to
28 years through the Danish Cancer Registry. Of the participants, 1,081
eventually developed a tobacco-related cancer. The authors determined
that the median vitamin D concentration among these participants was
only 14.8 ng/mL, versus the higher 16.4 ng/mL median concentration found
for all participants together.
These
results show for the first time that the risk of tobacco-related
cancers as a group is associated with lower concentrations of vitamin D.
The data also indicate that tobacco smoke chemicals may influence
vitamin D metabolism and function, while vitamin D may conversely modify
the carcinogenicity of tobacco smoke chemicals. If further research
confirms this, it would be consistent with previous studies
demonstrating the anti-tumorigenic effects of vitamin D derivatives, as
well as the correlation of vitamin D deficiency with favorable
cancer-forming conditions and increased susceptibility to tobacco smoke
carcinogens. Interestingly, though, low vitamin D levels were not
connected with risk of other cancer types.
"Our
analyses show that the association between lower concentrations of
plasma vitamin D and higher risk of cancer may be driven by
tobacco-related cancer as a group, which has not been shown before,"
stated author Borge G. Nordestgaard, MD, DMSc, in the paper. "This is
important for future studies investigating the association between
plasma vitamin D and risk of cancer."

nutraMetrix Isotonix® Vitamin D with K2
Primary Benefits of nutraMetrix Isotonix® Vitamin D with K2*:
Key Ingredients Found in nutraMetrix Isotonix® Vitamin D with K2:
Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) 5000 IU
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that is found in some foods and endogenously produced when sunlight strikes the skin and activates vitamin D synthesis. Vitamin D promotes the efficient intestinal absorption of calcium, primarily in the duodenum and jejunum by supporting the synthesis of calcium-binding proteins to promote normal calcium absorption and retention. Vitamin D also promotes the normal formation of bone and normal bone growth and bone remodeling by osteoblasts and osteoclasts. Vitamin D deficiency can be caused by factors such as lack of exposure to sunlight, reduced skin synthesis of vitamin D, lower dietary intake, impaired intestinal absorption and reduced metabolism to active forms of vitamin D by the kidneys, all of which increase with aging. Deficiency has been linked to numerous health concerns, and insufficient levels of this vitamin are associated with weak bones and muscle weakness. In addition to promoting strong bones, vitamin D also has other roles in health, including supporting the bodys normal modulation of neuromuscular function and immune function. Vitamin D has been shown to support immune-modulation, and it is thought that supplementation promotes immune health by promoting the bodys normal regulation of T-cell function. In reference to cellular health, vitamin D supports the modulation of many genes that are responsible for encoding proteins that regulate normal cell cycle activity. Vitamin D levels have been strongly correlated to healthy cells. Lastly, through its interaction with VDR (vitamin D receptor), vitamin D supports the healthy expression of the gene encoding renin, thus helping to maintain healthy blood pressure.*
Vitamin K2 45 mcg
Vitamin K is a fat-soluble vitamin found in meat, eggs, dairy and natto. Although a fat-soluble vitamin, the body stores very little K2, and its stores are rapidly depleted without regular dietary intake. Natural vitamin K2, also known as menaquinone-7 (MK-7), is the most bioavailable form of K2 and has the longest half-life in the blood of any form of vitamin K. The Japanese soy food natto is particularly rich in menaquinone-7 (MK-7). Studies of natto consumption in Japan have linked menaquinone-7 to bone and cardiovascular health. The correlation of vitamin K to cardiovascular and bone health directly focuses on supporting proper calcium utilization, whereby adequate metabolism of calcium supports arterial and bone health. This is often referred to as the calcium paradox. The calcium paradox is explained simply as getting calcium in the right place (i.e., into the bone structures instead of the arterial vessel walls.) These events are dependent upon the synthesis of the vitamin K-dependent proteins osteocalcin and matrix Gla protein in a process called carboxylation. The carboxylation of these proteins is a post-translational step; that is, osteocalcin and matrix Gla protein are translated from their respective messenger RNA and then modified by enzymes to the active forms. These carboxylated forms support the healthy binding and releasing of calcium. This reaction is essential for optimal and healthy utilization of calcium. Vitamin K2 promotes the synthesis of proteins involved with calcium utilization, thereby supporting bone retention and arterial health. While Vitamin D supports the healthy regulation and synthesis of osteocalcin, the mineral-binding capacity of this protein requires vitamin K-dependent carboxylation and is thought to be related to bone mineralization. Gas6 is a vitamin K-dependent protein found throughout the nervous system, as well in the heart, lungs, stomach, kidneys and cartilage. Although the exact mechanism of its action has not been determined, Gas6 appears to be a cellular growth regulator involved in cellular activities such as cell adhesion, cell proliferation and protection against apoptosis.*

What Makes nutraMetrix Isotonix® Vitamin D with K2 Unique?
nutraMetrix
Isotonix Vitamin D with K2 contains vitamin D3, the metabolically
active form of vitamin D, along with vitamin K2, a form of vitamin K
which supports vascular health and calcium utilization. Vitamin D plays
an important role in bone health, heart health and immune support, while
working with vitamin K to support normal absorption of calcium and
promote healthy arteries. nutraMetrix Isotonix Vitamin D is the first of
its kind to deliver both of these powerful vitamins with isotonic
delivery.
Vitamin
K is included in nutraMetrix Isotonix Vitamin D with K2 because of its
unique partnership with vitamin D. Vitamins K and D work together to
support calcium absorption and utilization. Vitamin K supports the
normal delivery of calcium to the bones and promotes healthy arteries.
At
least two naturally-occurring forms of vitamin K have been identified
and are known as K1 and K2. While there are many similarities between
these two forms of vitamin K, they are distinguished by their important
differences. The most significant difference between K1 and K2 is their
chemical structure which results in different pharmacokinetic
properties. Vitamin K1 is retained primarily in the liver where, at high
doses, it may interfere with the action of warfarin and other
anticoagulant medications.
Vitamin
K2 has a different mechanism of action. It is transported primarily to
bones and blood vessels. Vitamin K2 helps to maintain bone mass, support
calcium utilization and promote elasticity of blood vessels.
Some
studies have concluded that vitamin K2 does not interfere with
anticoagulant medications.* However, most products containing vitamin K
(including K1 and/or K2) warn users taking anticoagulants not to take
the product. If you are currently taking warfarin or another
anticoagulant medication, you should consult your physician before
taking any product containing vitamin K1 or K2.
Isotonix
dietary supplements are delivered in an isotonic solution. This means
that the body has less work to do to obtain maximum absorption of the
nutrients. The isotonic state of the suspension allows nutrients to pass
directly into the small intestine and rapidly absorb into the
bloodstream. With Isotonix products, little nutritive value is lost,
making the absorption of nutrients highly efficient while delivering
maximum results.
Related terms: vitamin D, vitamin K, bone health, cardiovascular health, immune support, D3, K2
